Excellent investment! March 17, 2010 Makenzie C. Garrett (Winston-Salem, NC/Moyock, NC) I did extensive research before choosing a netbook for purchase. This one had the best reviews by far. It's lightweight and super portable. For the price, it has everything you could want and I am extremely impressed with the life of the battery. It actually lasts as long as it says it will, which is something that I haven't ever experienced with laptops. They usually die after a few hours, despite what the packaging says. This one lasts the full 7.5 hours, even after running multiple applications the entire time.
If you're looking for something affordable and worth the money, don't look anywhere else. This netbook is great! I would definitely buy it again.
Beware of Acer Support March 8, 2010 Linette Sindoni (Wilmington DE) I am writing this review to advise my unpleasant experience with Acer's Support Service. During the Chat Feature on their support site, I actually had to ask whether or not I was speaking to a Human or an automated response system. I was one of the unfortunate purchaser's that run into Bios problem, had to send back the netbook after only a couple months of purchasing and upon return, it worked, but I had problems accessing the internet and works was no longer installed but recovery options were only Vista on a supposed XP Home system. I was told that since time had lapsed, the product was no longer under a 90-day warranty and they would be happy to help for a fee. I can only hope that if you purchase this product, you do not have a problem machine.
Acer Aspire 10.1 Inch Red Netbook February 22, 2010 J. P. Allen (Waldorf, MD) I purchased this item for my wife as an anniversary gift. She was thrilled with it. Setup was fairly straight forward and wireless connection to our home router was simple. Have only had this item for three weeks but all is well so far. The small keyboard works well and the screen gives a clear and sharp image. This item does not come with a built in CD/DVD reader but does have several usb ports for transferring data from one pc to another. I did however purchase an accessory pack that included a DVD drive that connects to the Aspire via USB port. The pack also included a usb wireless mouse and a protective jacket for the netbook. All in all we, my wife actually, is very satisfied with this netwbook. She loves the attractive dark red color as well!
Can't say much for Acer Customer Support January 16, 2010 Jim (Houston, TX) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'd been trying to talk my self out of this purchase but finally decided to take the plunge when I saw the red color go on sale for $300. Product was delivered right on time. I was excited to get it set up so we could use it in the family room to check email and to browse the net when TV got boring. The trouble started when I had difficultly connecting to my home network. Not a problem, I should be able to contact Acer customer service for help, right? Wrong. They were entirely unhelpful. Thankfully I was able to contact a friend who was able to resolve the problem over the phone for me.
.
I like the product and feel that I made a wise purchasing decision. But I was sorely tempted to return the netbook for a refund after my experience with Acer customer service. Hopefully I won't need to contact them again.
.
I'd recommend this item to anyone who is looking for a notebook. It is stylish, very light, and surprisingly quick. And the red color is nice. Since I wanted a notebook with XP rather than Win7, this fit the bill nicely. As always, Amazon has an incredible selection and provided quick shipping.
Great for commuting! November 30, 2009 Kelsee Atkinson 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I absolutely love my new netbook. I purchased this computer so that I could take it to school with me. Because I downloaded Microsoft Office onto the computer, it has everything I need while working at school. I also put a SD card in it so that I have extra memory, and it makes transferring files much easier. This computer does everything that I needed it for. An added bonus-it easily fits in my purse or carry-on when I am travelling. The long battery life allows me to go where I need to without bringing the extra cable. I am at school for twelve hours a day and I have yet to run out of battery life. I love it and highly recommend it to any commuters who do not want to carry the extra weight around with them.
