Not A Nerbook You Can Personilize June 30, 2010 Michelle This little netbook is......thin....and light...and those are the only positives. If you are looking for a netbook that has cute snazzy little features, this isnt for you. The web cam works, but has NO features. All the games that come with it, like solitaire and spider, dont have appearance options. This netbook pretty much is for beginers how DONT CARE ABOUT FEATURES AT ALL!
But please take it from me, if you have dial up, and plan to use this netbook to access the internet, DONT BUY IT!!!!!!!!! For your own sake please dont! You will have to buy HUNDREDS of dollars of accessories to access internet. If you want to get on the internet and have dial up, just buy a laptop!
mouse pad died after 60 days February 22, 2010 arzimax (California) Powerful small unit at a good price. But...not sure about the quality of the components used by Acer. The moose pad died after 60 days. Amon refuses to take it back at full price and not sure if Acer is willing to accept return or fix this problem. Better to try Lenovo or HP - they are known to use high quality components (learned it too late).
kids computer February 1, 2010 James Denham (San Antonio, TX, USA) so far this computer has done what it was suppose to do. i bought two for my twin boys and they are learning how to use the internet, email, and typing. the computers are for a defined market and keeping it within their intended use you will not be disapointed.
Acwe a real piece of crap! January 9, 2010 T. H. McCandless It is probably good that this netbook is no longer available because it is a real piece of crap. Mine has been back to Acer and it is still not right. Everytime I start it up it is like a new day because I never know what will have changed. Acer gets a real thumbs down for this product, customer service and a willingness to replace a defective product. I would run away from Acer!!!!!
Acer netbook January 8, 2010 S. P. Banerian The conversion of this netbook from WinXP to dual boot Win/Ubuntu-9.10 took less than an hour; the easiest dual-boot system I've ever done. Simply (1) remove the crufty add-on useless promo programs on the Win side and defrag (2) boot to Ubuntu ... ah you think, no cd/dvd drive, how? a bootable USB drive ! (3) use parted or gparted to shrink the Win partition (4) boot to Win, and chkdsk. (5) reboot the USB stick and install Ubuntu.
The wireless, video cam, audio, all work with the basic installation - you do not even need to install the netbook-remix of ubuntu - the 'full' version installed just fine.
Needless to say, it runs longer on the battery in linux than windows.
